Considered an "Outsider Artist" as she did not receive any formal art training, the artist began to draw after practicing Qi-gong for health reasons. According to an essay by Johnson Chang, "during these meditative states she experienced special visions that were put down on paper. Much of the subject matter of her drawings, as well as the concepts and physical structures she uses come from traditional Chinese philosophy, myths and medicine." The book is mostly comprised of large full-page color drawings.
