As New
John McCracken: Sketchbook, published concurrently with the 2008 solo exhibition John McCracken at David Zwirner, presents the first of two treasured sketchbooks that the artist used from the mid 1960s until the mid 1970s. These pages show his thought processes, insights, and working sketches—all of which predate and presage his later work. The format, paper, and reproduction quality of the book have been designed to faithfully reproduce in facsimile the original pages from this fascinating document. A supplemental booklet, bound separately and inserted into a pocket in the back of the book, shows his sculptures in their realized form. Also included is an interview with the artist by curator and writer Neville Wakefield.
