SEQUENCES by Duane Michals (Inscribed association copy)

Doubleday, 1970, First edition, Unpaginated, 8" X 8 1/4", Softcover

Very good with some ceasing and general wear (spine intact with no creasing) please see photos. (Inscribed by Michals to his photography dealer Lee Witkin) Also included is a gallery announcement postcard addressed in Michals hand to Witkin.

In Sequences, Michals uses text and photographs in a deliberate combination to extend the narrative of both mediums creating mini photo-short stories. Michals relies on his own history as subject material, often re-creating scenes in his family life to form modern day parables. This is Michaels first book.

This copy is inscribed by Michals to pioneering photography dealer Lee Witkin. (Who represented Michals from the early 1970’s through the 1990’s.)

Lee Witkin was a pioneer in the world of photography and is credited with the launching of photography to public consciousness and collector interest. In 1969 he opened the first commercial gallery of photography and broke ground for the diverse scene that is photography today.  His importance in the field cannot be overestimated.

An extremely rare and noteworthy association copy.
