CHARLES EAMES: FURNITURE FROM THE DESIGN COLLECTION edited and with text by Arthur Drexler

Museum of Modern Art, 1973 First edition, 56 pp., 7 1/2" X 10" Softcover

Very good with a bit of rubbing to wraps.

More than any other American furniture designer, Charles Eames has used and developed modern technology to suit his own ends, and his now-classic chairs of molded plywood and plastic have influenced designers throughout the world. This exhibition will survey his work from the prize-winning Museum of Modern Art competition entry of 1940, designed with Eero Saarinen, to his current use of "foam-in-place" integral padding, and will also include prototypes of furniture that never went into production. Eames is an architect as well as a furniture designer, and the exhibition will include photographs of the house he built in Santa Monica, California in 1949. A program of his short films will be shown in the auditorium on March 28 and 29. A catalog of all the Eames furnitures in the Design Collection will accompany the show. Directed by Arthur Drexler, Director, Architecture & Design. March 27 - May 30
