Very good +
Published to accompany his 2009 exhibition “Portrait Studio” at Groeflin Maag Galerie in Zürich, this book breaks down fifteen of Daniel Gordon’s photocollages into detailed abstractions that highlight the works’ construction and resulting texture. Gordon’s haunting photographs are the result of an elaborate working process, in which he prints out imagery from the internet, trims them with a scalpel, and arranges them to form large-scale portraits of Frankensteinian figures and objects. Portrait Studio reproduces these constructions made from fragments and then returns them to a state of fragmentation.
