From 1982 to 1998, James A. Weil (proprietor of the Elizabeth Press), selected works from among the unpublished poetry of William Bronk (1918-1999) and arranged for their private printing as chapbooks in a small number for private distribution. Estival gathers together 25 of these chapbooks; the contents of 24 of them are made up of 88 Bronk poems. The poems are preceded by introductory comments by the publisher, Richard A. Carella and the text of remarks by Bronk upon receiving the American Book Award for Poetry in 1982. Weil has also contributed an afterword, which is followed by background notes by Carella. [And with thanks to Mr. Carella for some background info on this work.] Chapbook and essay titles printed in orange. Designed by Jerry Kelly.
